Latino Welcome Celebration
The Latino Welcome Celebration provides incoming and current Hispanic/Latino students with an opportunity to experience the atmosphere at Georgia Tech and network with other Hispanic students, faculty, staff, and corporate representatives.
Hispanic Heritage Month
The Office of Hispanic Initiatives advises a student committee to coordinate efforts with several Hispanic/Latino student organizations in organizing the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration from mid-September through mid-October.
Mini World Cup
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, OHI partners with the Georgia Tech Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers each year to organize the Mini World Cup, during which students play on teams representing different countries.
Meet OHI Director Jorge Breton
Jorge Breton, a native of Colombia, South America, obtained a bachelor’s degree in management and a master’s degree in marketing from Georgia State University.
In his current position as director of OHI, he works closely with Hispanic and Latino students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Breton has served as the Principal Empowerment Officer and as Principal Staff/Faculty Liaison for Georgia Tech’s Hispanics Or Latinos and Allies (HOLA) Employee Resource Group (ERG). His close interaction with students provides him an opportunity to influence future generations of Latino leaders. Breton advises individual students as well as student organizations, serving as an advisor to a few student groups. Additionally, he has served on the advisory board of the Georgia Tech Hispanic Alumni Network (GT-HAN).
